Here is a list with the most used torrent clients for Linux/Ubuntu. While a few other exists and are listed elsewhere, I think the software presented here represents the big players, and a wide range of interfaces and features. Azureus (Now Vuze)
Azureus is a BitTorrent client written in Java. The BitTorrent protocol is a new way of exchanging or distributing data over the internet. Downloading also means uploading, and the amounts of each are linked, to ensure fairness and rapidity in the spread of the file at hand.

The fastest and most lightweight torrent client (a console application-no GUI by default).
